Overview

"GELART JET" Technology

Unlike general inkjet printheads, this GELART JET head has the following three features: (1) large droplets, (2) wider viscosity and (3) longer jetting distance.


The valve where fluid is jetting is controlled by open/close with the actuator. The fluid is discharged only while the valve is opened with pushing by compressed air.

Digital Painting/Coating with Large Droplets & Wider Viscosity

The above mentioned features enable variable inks to be discharged over a large area, which is difficult to do with general inkjet printheads.
This makes it possible to digitally replace tasks not only 'printing' but also the one classified as ‘painting’ or ‘coating’.

Variable Applications with Longer Jetting Distance

As the fluid is discharged by compressed air, the printhead has a longer jetting distance than conventional one.
This eliminates the need for strict print gap control and flatness on the media so we can increase the possibility of the applications utilised.

Specification

There are two main types of nozzles: single and multiple type (number of nozzles: 8), each of which has its own hardware variations in terms of, for example, nozzle hole diameter.

FAQ

How the valve jet works?

Ink is discharged with being pushed by compressed air from the nozzle hole only while it is opened where is controlled by a certan parts connecting to piezo element.
Therefore, there are three main control factors to utilize this printhead; how long the valve is open (Open Time), how often the valve is open/close (drive frequency), and how strong air pressure is.

What is the gap between the print head and the printed surface?

Although it is possible to eject from 50 mm distance, 10 - 20 mm is recommended from the print quality viewpoint.

What is the resolution?

It will be around 100 dpi.

How long is the life of the print head?

Although it depends on the compatibility with the ink used, the rough reference is about 6 billion times with actuator vibration.

Is the drive board available?

Yes, it's available for purchase. Please contact us for details.

Can you (Ricoh Digital Painting) perform ink evaluations?

It's possible but please contact us first.
Ink itself and SDS are required to determine the ink's properties (especially viscosity and particle size). We will evaluate simple dispensing, actual printing, and washing.
